The Swedish calendar girls
"The Swedish Calendar Girls" is a collection of beautiful and charming photos of women from all sectors of professional life. Celebrities like former "Bond ladies" Britt Ekland and Maud Adams, as well prominent women in culture, business, media, etc, have all joined in this grand celebration of women in mid-life and our efforts to insure the best possible health, as well the best possible quality of life, for all women. Our calendar has attracted great interest from the public and the media ever since the very first issue published in 2003. The Center for Gender Related Medicine, started by Professor Karin Schenck-Gustafsson, was officially opened in January 2003 at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm. Sweden thereby became one of the first countries in the world to support the gender aspect in medical research. The pioneering and vital work carried on at the Institute, not only for the women of Sweden but for women all over the world, is in constant need of financing. Therefore the 1.6 Million Club donates each year all profits generated from the sale of calendars to support the Center and its research. Prisma, publisher of the calendar, also donates an additional 10 Swedish crowns for each calendar sold. Women face more health-related hazards than one might think. When it comes to health research, drug testing, the financing of research, there is no level playing field between the sexes. In the world of medical research, males are still the norm for testing and male health issues are at the core of most choices made and funding given, for research and study. Still today gender differences are often ignored or seldom given serious consideration or analysis. This continues in spite of a wealth of data which reveals there are real and important differences between the sexes regarding risk-factors, symptoms, consequences related to diagnosis, treatment and rate of survival. Why not join us in supporting research for women’s health by purchasing "The Swedish Calendar Girls". Calendars are available in the month of November for the upcoming year.
